How can CBD affect sex and desire for it?

Does CBD have sex effects? Can it affect libido aka desire for sex or even sexual performance? There isn't much research on CBD that focuses on its potential "sexual benefits". However, there are CBD-containing products on the market that are supposed to help with sexual issues. To understand if and how it can help your sex life, it's important to first understand how cannabidiol affects the human body.

Because it interacts with the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which controls or influences a number of important processes in our bodies, from sleep to digestion to mood. It is also responsible for maintaining internal balance (homeostasis). One part of the ECS is the receptors. You can think of them as locks that can be activated by inserting the right key. CBD can act as such a key. While the lock does not directly "unlock" CBD, it can trigger a series of reactions in the body that stimulate the endocannabinoid system.

Erectile Dysfunction (ED)

According to an article in BioMed Research International, Ayurvedic physicians have been using the cannabis plant (Cannabis sativa), the plant from which CBD is extracted, for many years to improve ejaculatory function as well as sexual performance. The exact way in which CBD may help erectile dysfunction is not entirely clear. One theory is that CBD could help dilate blood vessels to promote blood flow. Better blood flow through the penis may thus alleviate erection difficulties and help sex last longer. The problem is that doctors have not specifically tested the effects of CBD on the penis. A small study published in the journal JCI Insight found that a single dose of CBD helped lower blood pressure. But the researchers in that study looked at the arteries leading to the heart, not those around the groin.

The vascular system plays a big role in erectile dysfunction, but you also need to focus on the psyche and take the edge off performance anxiety. CBD can significantly help with that as well.

Lubrication

For those who struggle with dryness and painful sex, adding a lubricant can improve sexual performance and relieve pain. Many manufacturers are giving lubricants that contain CBD a chance as a means to increase the enjoyment and pleasure of sex. insufficient mucosal moisturization is largely related to stress - often from performance or pain, which is all the more likely to occur.</p

Low sexual desire

Another theory is that cannabis affects sexual libido directly in the brain. A 2017 study suggests CBD activates the part of the brain that controlssexual arousal. It can also improve mood, relieve or alleviate anxiety, and increase the ability to cope with stress and psychological fluctuations.</p

Decline in sexual desire eventually catches up with almost everyone, CBD drops can help fight this ailment.

The need for sex has long been declining in both men and women. This is largely due to a hectic lifestyle, lack of time to relax, lack of sensitivity to one's own needs. For women, the problem can go as far as developing HSDD (hypoactive sexual desire). Unfortunately, the only drug available, Flibanserin, is very controversial. It can have serious side effects such as depression, hypotension or insomnia. Its use can be counterproductive and ultimately worsen a woman's condition.

How to use CBD

CBD products can be incorporated into your sex life in a variety of ways. It depends on how quickly you want the effects to take effect. CBD drops administeredunder the tongue are absorbedinto the bloodstream the fastest (within minutes). Those who do not like the specific taste of hemp oil can choose, for example, CBD oil using MCT coconut oil as a carrier oil. For capsules or topical preparations, the time lag is understandably longer (but they may work for a longer period of time).

CBBD products designed to improve sex are becoming increasingly available. Unfortunately, at the moment there is more talk than research, so we don't have much official data on the sexual effects of CBD. However, CBD products don't carry many side effects, or are just common and temporary problems that will subside over time.
