How to properly dose CBN oil

CBN is slowly coming out of the shadow of CBD and its potential effects are increasingly being discussed. Do you know how to dose cannabinol correctly? In this article, you will learn how to proceed and how much time CBN needs to feel the change.

Sleep comes first

Most of the research revolves around CBD. But it's far from the only cannabinoid that deserves attention. But few are as "versatile" as cannabidiol. Perhaps sleep support is typical for CBD, but studies suggest that CBN might be even a little more effective for insomnia. But for cannabinol to be able to affect sleep, the user must discover what's behind the problems (long-term stress, anxiety conditions, chronic pain) and adjust the appropriate dose accordingly.

CBN versus CBD

However, the two substances differ in their effects on the human body, their origin and their price.

CBN:

  • It is produced by the breakdown of THC and its amount depends on the amount of tetrahydrocannabinol
  • Its price is higher and its availability worse
  • There are only minor studies and research, animal testing
  • May have a positive effect on insomnia, but other effects are in the background

CBD:

  • Naturally occurs in hemp and can be grown with plants high in it
  • It is the most widely used cannabinoid
  • WHO has designated CBD as a safe substance
  • A lot of research is going on, possible effects on the human body are gradually being uncovered and tested on humans

CBN and its effects on sleep

Cannabinol is primarily linked Studies are still ongoing, but partial findings suggest that CBN is an effective means of combating insomnia. Sleep may be deeper and uninterrupted, and problems falling asleep may subside over time.

Other possible effects of CBN:

  • Antibacterial effects (tests have been conducted against strains of MRSA and CBN has been shown to dampen infections when antibiotics fail)
  • Neuroprotective effects (in testing on rodents, researchers have found that CBN can slow the onset of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)
  • Appetite support
  • Alleviating the symptoms and effects of glaucoma (tests on rabbits have shown a significant reduction in intraocular pressure, which is a major cause of glaucoma)
  • Anti-inflammatory effects (reduction of inflammation is typical for most cannabis compounds, but for CBN, tests on rodents have revealed an alleviation of the symptoms of arthritis, which affects more than a hundred thousand people in the Czech Republic alone)

CBN oil dosage

The exact dosage of CBN oil is difficult to determine without knowing a number of variables and each user must adjust it themselves. The result (ideal dosage) is influenced by a number of factors, such as:

  • Body weight
  • Metabolic rate
  • Dietary habits
  • Stress
  • Medications taken
  • Health status
  • Hormonal imbalance

So it may be that two women in their forties will be the same at first glance (working, dual mothers, stressed out, recreational athletes) but each will need a different dose of cannabinol. It is enough to follow a simple procedure and to perceive the body's reactions when setting the appropriate amount.

  • Discuss your intention to use CBN with your doctor (he or she will warn you of possible contraindications with medications you are taking, such as antidepressants, birth control, allergy pills, or those that prohibit the consumption of grapefruit)
  • Start with small doses (the weakest CBN oils have a concentration of 5%, the strongest ones have 40%, increase the amount slowly)
  • Give CBN enough time for the first effects (the first changes may take two or three weeks)
  • Choose an appropriate form, e.g. CBN drops, capsules, confectionery (while the oil takes effect within a few minutes after sublingual administration, with capsules it is necessary to wait up to two hours)

Understandably, if it is just a problem with falling asleep and sleep quality, less CBN will be enough. But if you are significantly overweight or suffering from long-term stress, the body will need larger doses and the onset of effects will be slower.

CBN, like CBD and other cannabinoids, takes many forms. Some people may be better affected by vaping, others by a few drops under the tongue. While vaporisation is claimed to be effective at 6 mg, the range for oral administration is between 4 and 66 mg. There is no choice but to monitor the body's reactions and not try to rush the effects with a higher dose or stronger concentration.

Summary

Research (although not much and mostly in animals) suggests a positive effect of CBN on sleep quality. However, its effects are amplified by other effects, where cannabinol may dampen pain or reduce inflammation and the effects of stress, thereby aiding sleep. When taking it, you should start with a minimal amount and wait a few weeks for the first changes.
