5 reasons why CBD might not work for you

Cannabidiol is having a moment of glory, and it would seem to be able to deal with almost anything, but it is not a solution for everyone. There are a number of exceptions where it doesn't work and its effects are nil. Here are 5 of the most common reasons why you may not get the desired effects when taking CBD.

1 - Beware of low quality products

The popularity of CBD is growing,it is commonly available in online stores and brick and mortar stores. The problem is that not all products are of the required quality. Going by price may not pay off. Not everything that is expensive is automatically high quality. Therefore, when choosing, it pays to look at available analyses, laboratory tests and certifications or user reviews.

Recently, experts tested 84 samples of CBD from different manufacturers, and only 31 of them (less than 37 %) contained the advertised amount of cannabidiol.

The cannabis business is one of the most progressive and many manufacturers are taking advantage of this in their products. They ride the wave of popularity, the emphasis on quality goes by the wayside and the price remains high. It is possible that you may not find a CBD product that suits you on the first try, so in the "worst case scenario" you may have to switch between several brands, concentrations and forms.

2 - The "just right" dose

CBD does not have an exact dosage. Each user has to work out for themselves how the cannabidiol affects them. However, it is not without side effects (drowsiness, fatigue, nausea), so one should start with a lower dose and gradually increase if necessary. It depends on your weight, associated problems and what you want to affect with CBD (anxiety, pain, inflammation, sleep, skin problems and a whole host of others).

Long-term use of CBD shouldn't harm your body, but it does increase the likelihood that you'll build up a tolerance to CBD. It's the same as with prescription drugs. The body becomes numb to cannabidiol and the effects may not be as strong as they were to begin with. But just stop taking it for a few days and follow up with lower doses.

3 - Lack of time

CBD isn't a cure and doesn't work that way anyway. When sublingually administered, it enters the bloodstream within minutes and begins to work, but the real and noticeable effects and changes are most likely to be seen after a few weeks or even months of regular use.

The effect of cannabidiol on the human body will only become fully apparent once the body has become accustomed to the new substance and allowed it to affect individual processes, functions and organs. We recommend that you keep a diary where you write down the small changes and doses of CBD you take every day. You won't see a difference after three days, but you may only see a difference after a longer period of time (ideally two or three months), but the notes in your diary will help you to see how much cannabidiol has affected you. It could be a boost to sleep and appetite, a reduction in pain that was limiting your daily life, manifestations of inflammation and autoimmune diseases, or anxiety conditions. It does not make sense to significantly increase the daily dose or change the product, manufacturer or form of CBD during the monitoring period. The results would then be skewed and would not reflect the true condition.

4 - Poor selection

CBD products have literally exploded in recent years. More are constantly appearing, adding to the already rich supply. Alongside topicals, oils, capsules, candies, flowers, crystals or patches, CBD coffees, bath salts or lubricating gels are also popping up.

You can take CBD in many forms, but not all of them have to suit you. This has to do with bioavailability. While CBD gummies have to pass through the digestive tract and the amount of cannabidiol absorbed is relatively small, with CBD drops administered under the tongue, the whole process (absorption and onset of effects) is much faster and stronger. However, you also need to consider what type of relief you are looking for. Topicals won't relieve anxiety, and capsules take their time relieving muscle tension.

5 - There is no universal cure

Just because CBD is on the rise and research is slowly uncovering more and more possible effects, doesn't mean it's a one-size-fits-all remedy for a variety of health ailments. According to American psychiatrists, roughly a fifth of people suffer from a genetic mutation in which the human body produces more endocannabinoids. This results in a lower sensitivity to CBD and you won't feel a difference when taking it.

Cannabidiol is not a one-size-fits-all and affects everyone differently. There is no muster that determines how CBD can behave in the body, what it can affect, and what side effects it can cause.
